PERIOD CRAMPS AND WHY THEY EXIST
Saba® makes you feel #CómodaContigo.
When your period arrives it usually comes with some unwanted guests like headaches, nausea, and the worst of them all, CRAMPS ⚡️. Ok, we know they suck but this is what you should know:
Cramps are the pain that you feel in the lower abdomen and lower back. This pain goes from dull and annoying to severe and extreme.
What’s the cause of menstrual cramps?
Menstrual cramps start when the egg goes down the ovaries and travels down the fallopian tube. cramps tend to begin after ovulation when an egg is released.
Approximately once every 28 days, if there is no sperm to fertilize the egg, the uterus contracts to expel its lining.
Hormone-like substances called “prostaglandins” trigger this process. Prostaglandins are chemicals that form in the lining of the uterus during menstruation. They cause muscle contractions and cramps that are similar to labor pains. They can also contribute to nausea and diarrhea.
How to prevent them?
To reduce the risk of menstrual cramps you can:
- Drink a lot of water
- Workout
- Eat fruit and vegetables, and stay away from junk food.
Remedies
If it’s too late and the cramps are already annoying you, this is what you can do:
- Apply heat to the lower abdomen.
- Including herbs and vitamin supplements in your diet may help.
- Warm tea
If you feel like your cramps aren’t normal we recommend you go to your doctor to check and make sure that everything is in order.
