Pregnancy is a very special moment in a woman’s life. After many years of anger from the uterus for not giving her a baby, the long-awaited moment has finally arrived. Our menstrual cycle leaves and a small human begins to grow inside our body🤰.
All of this is possible thanks to the fertilization process, in other words, the path of the sperm to make contact with the egg. It’s important to know the mechanism in which a pregnancy is achieved so that you have no doubts when it comes to all the myths that exist around it.
Vaginal intercourse with ejaculation is the only way a woman can get pregnant. The uterus is the sexual organ where the egg will be implanted when fertilized by a sperm. The vagina is the sexual organ that connects with the uterus and is in charge of receiving the penis in order to give access to the sperm that will be ejaculated. The sperm will travel through the uterus to the fallopian tubes, where they will find the egg for the purpose of fertilizing it, and will then return through the tubes to be placed in the internal part of the uterus called the endometrium.
A healthy man ejaculates 2 to 6 ml of semen, which is between 20 and 250 million sperm per milliliter, which is between 40 - 1,000 million per ejaculation.
The number is important because even though only one of them fertilizes the egg, the rest is necessary for it to reach its final destination. Of all the ejaculated sample, 10% are spermatozoids (a cell that carries the genetic information of the father) and 90% is made up of water with substances that are essential for the survival of the parent.
The entire process is dynamic and needs specific physiological resources so that a sperm can reach the egg and fertilize it to achieve a successful pregnancy. From all of this, it can easily be assumed that for a pregnancy we need:
An important number of sperms.
That the sperm is protected from mucus throughout its journey.
The mucus must give the specific conditions, otherwise, the mucus hardens and leaves the sperm inactive.
It’s silly to think that a finger☝ can carry sperm, and without useful condition, be able to overcome all the difficulties explained before. Or even think that it can happen with clothes in between.
Keep in mind that if you aren’t looking for a pregnancy, you must use a birth control method every time you have sex, preferably using condoms as they also prevent STDs😉.
